Demonstrations and drop-in activities

Come and enjoy some of our free demonstrations and take part in the activities at the Art Root Open Studios event.  All the demonstrations and drop-ins will run throughout the weekend and are suitable for all ages, young, old and in-between.

Dunbar, 15A Church Street (Basement)

Leslemay Miller is a creator of beautiful artist books and will show you how to make flutter-books and origami brooches.

Dunbar, 27 High Street (Basement)

Potter Philip Revell will be throwing and assembling pots in his studio for much of the weekend.

Tyninghame Hall, Tyninghame

Ruth Alder is an experienced needle-felter demonstrating this fun technique. Come and watch her create one of her fantastic animals, and have a go.

Sonia Borthwick is a textile artist who will be demonstrating knitting without needles and felt ball jewellery,

Lew Passmore is an award-winning screenwriter who writes true-life stories with fantastic elements. Join his screenwriting workshop to find out where a film begins and lend your voice to a table-read of his latest script.

The North Range, Smeaton Farm Steading, East Linton,

Over the weekend Anita Pate and Andrea Sutton will design and make a stained glass panel from start to finish. Come and see.

West Barns Studios

Anna Davis, Come and create with artist Anna Davis using textile inks and potatoes to create fun and funky prints on bags and fabric.

The Shed, Beltonford, West Barns

Joel Baker is a mosaic artist and will be on site to demonstrate his techniques of mosaic making.

Thurston Mains Ceramics Studio

Lucy Dunce -Over the weekend Lucy will demonstrate the masking, printing and hand painting techniques that are the focus of her  earthenware ceramics.

Use this opportunity to sign up for her ceramic classes running from early October on a weekly basis.
